Sample rates and bits
Your DAW and the audio interface need to be set to the same sample rate and bit depth. You actually only need to know what the best recording settings are for you. And they are.... 48 kHz / 24 bits (to record in)

This will give you the best result in sound, and still allow you to use many VST instruments and effects. Higher sample rates like 96 or 192 kHz will reduce your use of VST, double or quadrupple your needed disk space and you won't hear any difference.

CD and .wav
If you need to export your song for a CD or to WAV, so you can play it on a gig, you should export it with the following settings.... 44.1 kHz / 16 bits (export in CD quality)

MP3
Try to avoid using MP3 for you music. You might not hear it but it will take the spirit and brightness out of your music.
